Tea Party Sioux Falls and Lincoln High School

Letter sent to the author of the Argus Leader Article which Questioned Lincoln High's Participation in the Local Tea Party.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your article this morning regarding the involvement of the Lincoln High School Choir and Drum Line in the Tea Party on April 15th, 2009.

It appears to me that the administrators at the school are trying to paint a picture that Lincoln High does not participate in partisan politics.

Your article states...

"Lincoln assistant principal Mike Klinedinst said the band and choir were assured the event was non-partisan. "We were misled and the students were misled," he said. "We're going to have to ask more questions next time."

Konrad said student musicians frequently are invited to perform at various events. If it's partisan, they don't go."

Check out the Dakotavalues Blog, written back in August 2008, during the election, about the Obama pictures on the school's newspaper's, THE STATEMEN'S, website. The photos appeared for months on that website. Also read the comment which describes the atmosphere at Lincoln during the election. The link is no longer active to the Large Obama pictures.

Some of the pictures which were on the Lincoln site earlier during the election are currently in a "slideshow" on the paper's website.

Josh, you may also check the "search" on The Statesmen's Website and see what you find when you search for Obama, you will find several articles... http://lhsstatesman.com/index.php?option=com_search&Itemid=5&searchword=obama&submit=Search&searchphrase=any&ordering=newest
Josh, does it sound to you like the folks at Lincoln were somewhat partisan?

If you search for "Bush" no articles are in their files.

Josh, I thought that you would be interested in hearing a little more about some recent history at Lincoln.. Seems to me that Lincoln High School is partisan but only where and when they want to be.

Sincerely,

Jeff Hayes

Yes Pastor Jeff; Richard sent an article to the Argus Editors re; this incident. Wasn't it interesting that the Argus was crying "Wolf" when in fact, they are the victimizer down there at the newspaper. We think an overzealous reporter put a mic in the face of one of the students and VOILA instant phrase like "distinct conservative ideology" I cannot imagine a student saying something like that, can you? LOL
We have spoken to Lincoln H.S. staff to tell them of our support of their sending a group down to Covell Lake and hope they don't bow under this pressure in the future. Did you check out what Anderson Cooper had to say? That pretty much sums up what the MSM wanted to do with the "tea parties". Yup, they are threatened by some peaceful CONSERVATIVES from both sides of the aisle dumping some teabags around the country. Chaplain (Rev) Linda J JOhnson
